Rubbish Disposal . . .

Our relatively remote location means that effective rubbish disposal is an issue. As well as the ecological consequences, if this is not managed effectively, then the increasing costs of rubbish disposal will ultimately need to be passed on to campers in their fees. Campers need to minimise their rubbish and take as much home with them as they can. Lakefront campers are responsible for their own rubbish. Campers also need to ensure that their children are disposing of rubbish correctly. Such items as damaged deck chairs and old boat batteries will need to be either taken home again, or dumped by campers at the Twizel Dumping Station. It is recommended that campers bring suitable containers for sorting their rubbish for disposal into the correct bins, or for taking it home with them when they leave. If the rubbish problems continues to rise, the camp may be forced to implement a carry in - carry out policy, such as that which is used in some other parts of the country.
